Dominator! How did you get it to look similar to the AQMF original? Because it was the official Dominator head. I went to St.Louis and helped Ironclad Games sort through and identify all of the assets they had purchased. Among them were the Dominator heads. Since I had Historicon coming up in a couple of weeks they graciously let me have one of the heads so I could build up a Dominator. They are having the remaining parts cast and it will be available for sale in early August.

Session 4: The 2nd Battle of Rossville A couple of hours after the Martians slaughtered the garrison at Rossville, relief columns arrived from Danville to attempt to rescue the garrison. Splitting forces to attack from the North, South, and West, the human forces quickly realized that the town was in Martian hands and that no one remained to be rescued. Furthermore, an additional Martian force was arriving from the east, reinforcing the tripods and drones already present. Those forces had suffered several casualties and damage during the initial battle. In particular, the Martians were down to just two drone controllers, keeping them hard pressed to control the drone force along the whole perimeter. Luckily for them the reinforcements included a couple of Reaper Tripods that would ease the controller situation if they were able to link up. The Martians wasted no time in starting to pound the advancing forces with their Grenadier based artillery illuminated by scout based targeters. This very quickly resulted in the routing of two platoons of MK.III tanks on the southern flank, buying time for the Martian reinforcement force to move up and engage the humans well short of the trench line. On the west flank, the Marines approached closely through the woods. Aware of the threat, the Martians summoned all of their scorpion drones from hiding in the buildings and sent them across to dispatch the Marines. This resulted in a boiling fight in the woods with heavy casualties on both sides. The fight on the north and south flanks also continued to develop into hot melees as the Martians worked to keep the humans away from the town. After a few turns of combat the human forces broke and ran with heavy losses. Only the Marine snipers returned from the west, and a few scattered steam tanks from the north and south forces. Rossville would remain in Martian hands.

Okay, I've got to comment on the battle for Rossville. First, the large purple fans that were added helped immensely with the heat problem noted for battle #2 on Thursday night. Much cooler for all. Second, note that I've got a cane in the 3rd battle - I'd hurt my back horribly and was so done in that I couldn't do the #4 scenario!! More on that later. I was commander and my other player was new to the game. He did very well considering the situation - we were in for a lot of pounding between two strong Martian forces. Game note - the trees in this scenario were not Light Woods; they were heavy with tall trees so no shooting through them at all. This had a major impact on 'my side' as my opponent wisely keep his forces back safe whilst using the his Scout targeters and Grenadiers to pound my forces. At least I had some Armored Infantry which were immune to the Black Dust being flung. Also, the houses could hold troops, unlike the previous scenario. The Marine command squad as well as others took shelter there, as much to conceal themselves versus the better protection of the trenches. Our opponents were both veteran players and it showed! I should note the markers on the table - the orange indicated 'painted' status by targerters, the blue were elements lost before moral rolls and the yellow standup markers were routed units. The standup blue maker with the +1 was for the Clamper tank affect - a plus one to both hit and damage the held tripod. The Tesla missed the 'Florence Touch' as it missed both times it fired. My Clamper was the best, staying through several painted and shot at without damage attacks and finally actually pinning a tripod! btw Heavy Infantry is no match for Scorpions. My side of the battle looked like it was going well, but that was an illusion. He wore my non-immune units down, then started with shock fire and finally rushed the trench with a horde of drones; overrunning about everything in his path despite numerous assaults by my brave troops. A few even succeeded. My other commander did as well as he could, but even Marines can't hold a trench line with Assaults sweeping them with heavy heat rays and gas. Even with his snipers picking off drones and hitting tripods, our commands rallying the troops, the weight of the Martian machines told and we were forced to make a last stand in the trenches which bore so many of our dead troops (ref next to last picture, command stand in trench, the Marines to right is his command stand (out of a building). A glorious battle indeed - a well run as usual by the GMs.

My friend from Nam stood in for me at the final game (#4 Second/Rossville) and noted that there weren't a lot of players as had been the case in earlier games due to HMGS meeting taking place at the same time. Apparently there is real concern that Fall-In might not occur this year or at least elsewhere as the Lancaster Convention Center, under new management, might not be ready for the gaming horde or anyone else for that matter. His human partner was a veteran player but with other issues that caused a rift in the command as well. In any case, the Martians were strong whether defending or not and we have the usual human disadvantage multiplied by a long (except the Marines) area to cross to contact allowing the same turkey shot as the Martians suffered trying to get to Rossville. The expected results. But, I must say the picture that chilled me the most was of 4(!) squads of Scorpions heading out of the buildings and at the Marines. Having had my Armored Infantry chewed up last time by just a few squads of these monsters, I knew, despite their courage, that the Marines were doomed. Wish I could of played that one as well. All in all, the games were Great and the GMs the best. I truly enjoyed all!! TY!

Great job on the game and great photos! My wife and I (Florence of Tesla fame), played in the 2nd scenario.
