I am gathering notes for the Army of the Empire of Japan.
They have a tank that resembles the German LTII, an armored car much like the Lancaster, and tractors that are turretless versions of the tank and armored car. They have a 4 inch, a 6 inch and an 8 inch field gun, which resemble the british 25 pounder. I had planned to use 25 pounders of different scales for the field guns. Japan used the Adrian helmet, the French design, in WWI so I would use french troops.
I have to use my money very wisely, and Madmorgan has given me the GASLIGHT bug, but I am still looking for good castings.
Having just seen the current value of the Canadian vs US dollar (down to only ~75 cents!), I'm going to postpone my Blue Moon and IC orders until the exchange improves. Still on par with the Australian dollar which makes ordering more S2G tanks an attractive option.
Yes, the FoW are nice as is a lot of their WW1 and WW2 lines (portee gun trucks) - but, I'm going to build them as part of a 15mm Human armies line vs the 18mm AQ figures (from Blue Moon & True North Old Glory and Eureka). Along with Peter Pig you have a huge number of figures to choose from as well as stuff not normally available in 18s yet (or ever?). As far as I know, Old Glory isn't planning any WW2 25pdrs as they figured they are covered in their Command Decision line - which is unfortunately 15mm actual. So there it is. For an all Human force to include 25 pounders, I'll be using FoW/Peter Pig 15s. It not such a big thing as I've already got some of the 15mm and I'll be glad to have a FoW armored train at some point as well (!). Also some German 'Big Bertha' rail guns etc. It will be a while, but I like making the Human armies of the world and enjoy the different figures and tactics that come with those. And really 25 pounders were a WW2 gun - but, I figure the Brits would do something to replace the aging 18 pdr ATg.
Hmmm, I can see the 100mm as close to the 32 pounder or 25 in that case, but the 6" and 8" guns are just too big to 'fake' with a 25 pounder I'd think. Good question as to where to look for those weapons - I'll kick it around and see what I come up with.
