Except if you want a deeper line in the casting that means that you need to ADD material to the mold. Remember everything is reversed. I don't know if that is possible.

The problem with the tank is easily remedied by a few minutes spent scribing the lines deeper.

Based on my knowledge the only way to fix the lining problem is to create a new master mold, and that will cost a pretty penny.

Molds for injected molding require periodic maintenance. That would be a good time to effect changes. It is possible to add as well as remove material from metal molds more easily than with silicone molds.

You can get a diamond-tipped panel scribe on Amazon.com for $11.55, which includes shipping.
It literally takes 1 minute to re-scribe the panel lines to match, as long as you have the right tool. Granted, I've used my panel scribe about a dozen times in 25 years - but when I need it, I need it.

I use the back edge of a dull exacto blade and a Swiss file to dress the edges of the plates.

ty for the info on the scribe tool. and zan... thats a great picture of the cat! Doesn't everyone know that cats are just 5 aliens in a catsuit. Explains so much - they 'read' newspaper by sitting on it, can levitate, do mind control on their humans (feed me! pet me! leave me alone!), put out theta waves (sleeeeeep), have gravity controls (ref levitate - ever try to get up with a cat in your lap?), conduct experiments (what happens if we play with the humans hanging TP paper? wonder how the human reacts to me jumping on the keyboard during term papers, maybe the delete all key??).

Cats can walk through walls My real life felines used to love to walk on keyboards until they discovered touch screens. I have two cats big enough to actually open doors. Corn on the cob is not safe from my cats. It's a good thing they're not in league with the Martians!
Jewelry making stores and bead stores are a good source of supply for very precise tools. There exists a welder that is designed for .5 millimeter welds. I don't have one.
If you know a store where they make their own jewelry, they may work out a deal to get you the good tools.
I do make my own.
