I've been designing my own mini tripods as replacements for the Martian Drones. They are modular and use the same basic body and legs. Each body has 3 sockets that you can put tentacles and/or a weapon in. Bigger weapons require more than one socket due to their size. They are 3d printed and so making more weapons, tentacles and leg poses should be pretty easy. Being quite small they don't cost too much to print. I am hoping to be able to produce them at a cost of 3 for less than £10.00. Do let me know what you think of them. Some of the legs, tentacles and a weapon that can be added to the tripod. Close up of a leg. Three completed tripods with an All Quiet Drone. The basic tripod is on the left, middle is the heavy support tripod and right is the close combat tripod. These are great. I'd buy them. Who does your printing?

Glad you like them! I printed them with shapeways but think I am going to try 3dprintuk as they seem to have cheaper prices. They have a minimum order size of £25.00 and so I have been prototyping through shapeways and will print with 3dprintuk once the designs are finalised.

Could you put them on Shapeways too so us poor colonials don't have to pay shipping from the UK?

Want to sell me 3 legs? :>)
My last pack of AD drones came without one set of legs. I'm putting two metal legs on each drone and not looking forward to making 3 duplicates from styrene.

I will put them on shapeways once I have sorted out the sprues. Each time I get my latest print I want to make some changes but hopefully they will be completed soon. Want to sell me 3 legs? :>) My last pack of AD drones came without one set of legs. I'm putting two metal legs on each drone and not looking forward to making 3 duplicates from styrene. I'd sell you 3 legs but I am not sure they'd fit an AD drone! I would be happy to try and produce 3 AD drone legs for you as I could stick them on my next prototype sprue.

Really great idea. We have been lacking Drones in our games, we didn't think AD would close down so swiftly. Do you have a website or something similar? We would be up for some.

Do you have a website or something similar? Kev I am currently designing what will hopefully be the final versions and once I have made a successful print shapeways will let me list them for sale on their site. I will let you all know once that is done.

I'm there. Try to make the price reasonable within the confines of Shapeways pricing.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, it is much appreciated. The development of the mini tripods has finished and the latest print went well and so I have now set up my shapeways shop, Dragonfrog Games, which you can find here. I have also created another thread titled Dragonfrog Games which has some pictures of the tripods in it. If anyone has any ideas of what they'd like me to make next do let me know! Thanks, Martin

ooh, most excellent! I buy from Shapeways alot - look forward to some new '2nd Generation' drones! Quick question - what do you mean by 'heavy support' drone - Sniper? Shock? Just curious, I'm sure a few will fall my way in anycase.

Just curious, I'm sure a few will fall my way in anycase. I was planning to use the heavy as a sniper, the support as a shock and the assault as a scorpion drone.
