Did anyone happen to snag the Royal Scientist rules? I did not, and now I need them.
I got my Royal Scientist assembled and painted, but the color scheme made it look like a twisted Christmas ornament. It was so awful that I stripped it.
It is on my list of things to re-paint, but having the rules in hand would inspire me to move it to the front of the queue . . .

TY David! for this forum... Do you have a copy of all the Stuff you posted on the AD Forums as it would be a shame to loose all that. If you want to start a Texas Rules thread under the USA Rules Board, go ahead as Texas rules will be needed. I only got the Motorcycle troops myself

Okay, let me work my way through reviewing this excellent site and then I'll post it as my first one for TO&Es - there is some 'wiggle' room for them, but I think its a good layout for the TX stuff in general. Hey, you're my first "notification" here. Ack up against it - me Liverpool boyos take on lowly Sunderland in an hour (USA) time. Got to get typing...

Mad. I can't wait to see what you've draw up. That and the reprint of the air rules. Always thought I had more time....

Sorry to necropost, but I was looking over the Royal Scientist rules that are posted on the new website (no change from previous, I was just re-examining) and I was left with...a lot of questions. Apologies if this was covered elsewhere and dealt with. These definitely felt like they came out in the frantic "sell anything" phase. Some of the rules don't match up well. For instance:
120 seems awfully low for how good it is. More on that below, but considering 3 veterans are 250, while this one is a little fragile, its overall potential effect on the game is pretty tremendous. Also the fragility doesn't match up with the fluff for it well with the "new alloys".
Heat Saw and 2 Reaper Claws...as mentioned above, a tad of overkill here. Maybe it has one or the other? I like the sweep ray idea mentioned above.
Virus Canister: A) it's unlimited use? B) a 10" blast diameter?! D) when replacing human elements, what happens with larger tanks? Or vehicles carrying other elements? Would a virus bomb hitting a land ironclad replace the land ironclad with an element of Ravers?
Anyway, just some thoughts on that unit. I like the idea of it a lot, but it needs work, IMHO.

Agreed. Hmmm. Veteran tripods are 250 each, +50 with Green Gas or Black Dust. The 120 points just makes it a bigger target in my eyes; cheap and deadly. And alternative thought is that Ernie wanted to sell a lot of these monsters, so made them point cheap. I think it was use the Heat Saw or the Reaper Claws not both in the same assault phase. Not sure on that one. Unlimited use. Range was 10", targeted at a unit (of any number of elements? look out Marines!), I suppose you're supposed to use crew size (if given) for the larger tanks and LIC. As you note needs a rewrite with tighter rules.

Range is actually 15", doesn't have to be targeted at a unit, just a place on the board, and everything within a 5" radius that's human is affected. Granted they attack both sides, but Martians don't really care...
Taken from the PDF:
Type Speed Defense Armor Special Tripod 5” 6 10 See Below Weaponry Range Power Special Heavy Heat Ray 30”/15” +4/+3 Sweep (see page 62) Virus Bomb 15” +1 Special See Below Heat Saw Assault +7 Reaper Claw x2 Assault +5 Reaper Claw Tripod When a Tripod suffers one or more points of damage from an atta ck, roll on the Tripod Damage Resolution Chart to determine what happens. See page 48. Virus Canister The virus canister, or “infector” as soldiers sometimes call it, is truly an insidious weapon of horror. The Royal Scientist carries the large version. It plucks the bomb from its lower carapace and can hurl it up to 15”. On impact, it bursts, spreading a giant purple cloud of fine virus particles. The Royal Scientist Player nominates a target point within the 15” range and rolls to hit as normal. If the hit is successful, a damage marker is placed at the impact point. Any human units within 5” of the marker take a damage roll with a Power 2 modifier. Any human elements, including those in tanks, building or fortifications that are withinits strike radius of 5” are eligible targets. If the damage roll is successful, the human element is immediately replaced with a stand of Ragers.

Potentially this also means it would reveal what's under blips, correct? A ten inch area of blips revealed...
