Its doubtful the Red/White armies would work together, but you could have White army holding action with a Red army rear/flank attack - on the Martians of coarse. The other thing would be foreign support, with the Tsars White Russian getting arms and equipment from France and perhaps Germany (small chance that). He he 'doubtful'. I like the idea of the German foreign legion, Britain certainly lent men and equipment to the whites in 1917. It may be useful to have the French still supplying Japan with tanks, the Germans feeding the Russians. Business as usual.

I feel it's time to say that we need to start the living rule book! Or at least a supplement for the different locations around the world. Maybe even design a better map of the worldwide invasion; eg, black spots, lost countries, military outposts, etc.

See top listing under rules section - Qs already added on and lined up some chapter/discussion heads.

Along this line, I do want to stress an American unit or two of US Marines with those cool hats - but with gasmasks! I can't believe the Marines won't wear gasmasks. We could also use a proper Marine Mortar team (w/gasmasks of coarse).

Arkhangelsk, Winter 1918, Red Forces are sieging the town, White forces have a thin defensive ring but are short on weapons. British and Americans are on the docks protecting the weapons stores send to the Czar during the Great War. The Anglo-American allies are trying to stay out of the fighting but have to wait for the Spring for the ships to arrive and load up the supplies. Low and behold, here come the Martians striding across the ice. Their objective is to get across the table. There is also a Russian gunboat that is trapped by the ice in the harbor. Do the humans work together to defeat the Martians? Do the Reds take advantage of the confusion to storm the town? Do the Whites try to take the Allied weapon stockpiles? Do the Anglo-Amercans try to seize the gunboat and escape, tricking the Martian heat rays to melt the ice in front of them? I always loved the Russian Civil War. All sorts of possibilities.

Egads, as do I - see my various 'Tales of the Red Brigade' for examples. Now that I've started using some Peter Pig figures, the Russian civil war could become a major theme - up till now its all be in 1/72 and thus limited in scope. Your above scenario would require a bit of work and some 'special rules', but is very interesting. You left out the Armored Train guncar parked in town square in Arkhangelsk, one of the reasons the Reds haven't captured the town yet. All these figures are availble (including train and picket boat) from Peter Pig. I'd LOVE to have S2G figures of Russians, don't have to be 'Red' or 'White' per se - in fact leaving the iconic red star to a limited number of figures has an advantage of lowering production cost - the infantry figures could be used for either side unless you do the Reds with those strange hats. The commissars and officer types would definately have a redstar on their helments/hats.

Really good points. I would hate to see S2G overextend, your figures look too good. But...oh those Russians, they would be cool. I do agree that Russia from the east lacks natural defences and General Winter seems to not hold the Martians back (didn't stop them in Thompson, Manitoba and that is some cold!) So any ideas on defending Mother Russia would be interesting. Living on the northern prairies we experience weather much like the steppes, snow actually blows away. But having never been to Russia in the winter I'm just speculating.
I like the idea of a 1905 revolution, although one could argue that by WWI our time Russia was in a decent position, a middle class was emerging, the private economy was increasing and the political system was ripe for democracy. But White and Red armies sound very cool.
As for Americans, I do agree, many gamers of this system are American or collect U.S. forces (my Canadian son for one). I think Montana hats would be awesome, bikes, cavalry and Infantry. I would even use as Canadians! Out west we had lots of cowboys and rancher types.
While I would love to see French (I'm of French decent, we've fought in every war since the Plains of Abraham), there just may not be the interest in the short term. Maybe generic sailors for the eventual counter attacks from the sea supported by the navies big guns.
Super good luck to Slave 2 Gaming and to this forum.

Or RNWMP (RCMP), they wore- still do for dress, a Montana hat. My son says that they would probably just arrest the Martians for illegally crossing the border! Kev

As far as the Russians, most of the WW2 actions there were concerned with holding the numerous north to south river lines throughout the country. I'd think that this would be the major theme of the Tzarist defense along with the towns and cities of the motherland.

I just saw a picture of a WW1 Tsar Tank. I like the idea Russians as a new power. Something different.

I just saw a picture of a WW1 Tsar Tank. I like the idea Russians as a new power. Something different. Well have a look at the OOBs I've done under "Others Factions" - I've got some for Russian in 1/72 plastics (MI toy soldier) and some for Russians in 15mm (peterpig). Both lines have bunches of stuff - I favor the plastics as they seem to have more (and I already have some). Peter Pigs has a good amount of them as well, but not as many vehicles and artillery.

Here's my paper Tsar Tank here it is charging the enemy and here's a link to the original model www.homespunmagixx.com/TzarTank/tzar_download.aspThe scale is 1/48 but all you have to do is scale it down 50% and 1/96 is close enough to 1/100 for me.
