I have read this book at least one time all the way through and probably most of it a second or third time. I have never noticed this as I have mostly American forces and my buddy will be playing the Martians. Consequently, I never looked at the martians real hard. Hopefully on Saturday we will be finally playing our first game. I decided to look through the book again and make a little cheat sheet so we are able to fumble through the rules just a little bit quicker.
On page 52 the charts show that an assault tripod carries the heavy heat ray. It’s range is 30/15 inches and its power is a +3/+2
on page 117 where it gives a description of the assault tripods the range is the same but the power is +4/+3. Which then references you to page 62. Page 62 says the power for a sweep is +2, which matches the rules in the chart on page 52.
I did not find a thread on this question, so I am assuming it has never came up. Or perhaps, I just have not found it yet.
Which way do you guys use the heavy heat Ray as per the chart on page 52 or on page 117?

Well after looking at the rules beta frequently asked questions section of that link I still do not have an answer!!!
It says it is correct in the army list. It says it is wrong in some of the quick reference charts.
none of those pages or anywhere else in the table of contents does it show a army list or any quick reference charts! GRRRRRRRRRRR!
they cannot even reference their own stuff in the book by its own name! Very frustrating! I guess I will discuss it with my gaming buddy and we will decide which way we are going to do it.
I hate it when games come out of second edition rules and change so much of the first edition rules. In this case I may start to look forward to it because there are so many inaccurate things in the rulebook!

We always play it +4/+3 for heavy heat rays and +3/+2 for medium heat rays.

Thank you my friend! I think that is what I will do also! Thank you so much for posting this, who knows how long I would’ve wrestled with the answer to that question! LOL
