Well, I'm going to brave the winter weather and see the newest movie release - '1917'. Great visual promos and I recommend it for anyone who enjoys the period and/or AQMF. An interesting side note - the plot mentions that ' a whole battalion of 1600 men, including your brother, will be lost.' The officer states the strength of the battalion in the British armm in 1917 was 1600 men. Looking forward to it on the big screen. Only think missing will be the Martian machines

Saw the preview when I saw the new "Midway" movie. The visuals looked impressive but the basic premise (as far I could tell) seemed ridiculous.

I am very excited for the movie. I think it will prove to be a great entry into WWI movies. The uniforms look great, I love that they get the chalky dirt of the Champagne region. I agree the act of sending two guys to go delay or cancel an attack is a little hokey BUT in 1917 how else do you send a message other than runners (I pressume that the communication lines have been cut). I have heard nothing but postive reviews from it and I can't wait to see it. The scene they have shown with the protaginist running in front of the Britsh trench as the Tommies go "Over the Top" looks amazing!

Let's hope "Hollywood" doesn't screw it up.

I agree - I hope the writers, etc., make sure those runner have proper orders!! This is the British Army after all.

Hollywood and the truth are often strangers.
