Hello fellow AQotMFer's, The Navy (not to be outdone by the Army!) has developed a amphibious capable tank that can land along rivers to support the Marines and River Rats. This will give the services backed up by Naval forces (My Olmstead and Osceola gunboats) additional capabilities to take and hold, objectives along the many rivers in the war against the Martian invader. These MkIII variants labelled MKIIIWM for water mobile, carry 2 4" guns and 3 MG's. There is one 4" and one MG in each sponson and a MG in the forward hull. Soldiers/sailors being who they are, labelled the MKIIIWM as "Water Mocassins" to match the variant anagram. These are in a 3 element unit, moving 4" in the water, but after landing and discarding the ponts and unsealing the guns and ports (which takes an action, check your rules YMMV) movement increases to 6". All armament values are the same as other vehicles. These are the Flames of War tanks from their line. Ponts are wooden dowels with wood putty ends. Framework is from the actual sprues off the Steam tank models. There is a reason why steam tanks weren't used. These are engineered to run on kerosene or gasoline due to being submerged. The propeller was added to help with speed in the water, along with a snorkel for air intake for crew and engine. I have yet to add decals and finish the other two in the unit. This allows the infantry and all their paraphenalia to use the landing barges more efficiently. As mentioned before, the barges are on their slipways being fitted out! Here are a couple quick pics to give you an idea on what I've done. Notice that I scenically finished it to look like it was coming onto the shore line. I'm estimating approximately 225 points for a unit. This is the same as a MkIII unit with less 4" guns but with added amphibious ability should make it a wash. Enjoy! Respectfully, Gunny

I am awed by your modeling skills and the originality!!! GREAT JOB!
What do you do to make the floats(?) look metallic? Very convincing.

Excellent job, both workup and the modeling! My Texas forces were quick to adapt the idea to go with their other reptile themed tanks (Gila, Diamondback, etc.). Congrats.

On second glance, I'd think the 'snorkel' would have been much taller to exclude any rough or choppy waters. Again, great idea and design!

Is it a snorkel or smokestack? From the location, stack would appear to be more logical. The intake snorkel could be retractable and forward so that air flowed through the crew spaces and into the boiler.

Didn't consider the logic portions of my design. Have the attention span of a chimp. I will reconsider, thanx! Respectfully, Gunny

Far be it from me to inject too much realism into what is an alternative reality.
Your model work shows that you enjoy the create/construct as much as game play.
GAME ON -- however you do it!!!!

boxholder is right - I humbly withdraw my comment. Anyone who does such a great job of modeling (among other things) deserves some slack.
