Getting packed for Historicon. I'll have my All Quiet stuff on display. I haven't seen the program schedule so I don't know if there are any AQ games planned, but I will keep my eyes open.

Well, overall, the show was a disappointment, but I did sell a surprising amount of my All Quiet terrain and my display with the lighted tripods got a lot of attention and there were many questions about the current status of the game. So the interest is still out there.

So the interest is still out there. Scott, I'm very interested in your take on this year's Historicon. I wasn't able to attend and would be glad to hear a review, if you are at all inclined, of the new location in downtown Lancaster as well as reflections on attendance, etc.

Disappointing due to my overall sales, which were down about 50% from previous Historicons. Also disappointing due to the fact that loading and unloading for vendors is very difficult. The loading dock can only handle about 6 vehicles at a time and with 70 vendors it was a mess. Many, like me, were diverted to street parking which called for a very circuitous route (part up a rather steep hill) to get in. My back still hurts. Attendance seemed down. Some attributed that to the new location, but I recall that when they made the move to Fredericksburg the attendance shot way up the first year and then drifted down after that. So much for the bad. The good is that the Lancaster Convention Center is VERY nice. Actually far too nice for a bunch of scruffy wargamers HMGS may need to institute a dress code Downtown Lancaster, itself is a charming town with plenty of good eating locations. The gaming areas are nice and well-lit, although there were a lot of complaints about the noise, but that's been true everywhere we've been located. Another good thing was the great amount of interest my All Quiet display generated. There IS a lot of interest in the game. AbbyNormal really needs to make more effort getting the word out that the game is not dead (as many people seem to think). I did what I could.

My long time Vietnam buddy and I didn't make the trip - in fact he didn't even go solo. I like the Lancaster for the two smaller conventions (Cold Wars & Fall In), but, prefer the Frederickburg, VA, location for the much larger Historicon. Lots of food, shopping, entertainment for the non-gaming family and same place hotel (like Lancaster) as well as other high capacity hotels next door. Ouch 50%! Scott, I am sorry no one I know went to the show, I'm sure your sales would of been better. Btw, was the new AQMF owners there promoting their game??

Nope. They are a west coast company and don't come this far east. I had the only All Quiet stuff at the con as far as I know (although being the in vendor hall all day, I might have missed a game being played). Other good moments were a number of people coming by and complimenting me about my books. Even signed a few!

I also am saddened by these circumstances, Scott. I hope that we aren't circling the drain with AQotMF. Hopefully, if they ever do launch a new version, it will be heard through out the land. I can't thank you enough for what you've done to help keep this game alive. You're a true hero and no one can claim you haven't given it your all. From what I've read attendance was down and loading/unloading for vendors and GM's was one of the sore points of the new location. However, the HMGS staff seem to be attentive and hopefully, they'll get it straightened out next year. Question is, will vendors and GM's have the patience to try it again? If we all just ordered one thing from Scott, we could help him make up his sales loss, what about it troops? Respectfully, Gunny
P. S. Just sent an order for the downtown buildings to cut into that sales loss, Scott! If any of you miniature pirates could send a message along on FARCEBOOK to help Scott out it would greatly help to get the word out about Scott's sales deficit, I'd be grateful!

Gunny, I didn't realize my grumbling would be taken as a cry for help! I do appreciate any orders I receive from you folks, but don't feel obligated. I love the All Quiet game and anything I may have done to help keep it alive was a pleasure. So don't worry about my PaperTerrain business. Convention sales are only a small part of my yearly total. And I got your order, Gunny, thanks very much!

At this point I'm at a loss as to what to order. I own just about everything that has the least bit connection to AQ. I suppose I could get another set of tents or barges or perhaps some more of the planes. We'll see. btw if you folks haven't noticed, Scott has an exciting collection of ACW and Napy paper miniatures that are beautiful as well as very inexpensive compared to their metal counterparts. Have a look. His terrain also has scaled stuff for those sets.
