I started this big guy before I had bought any of the figures for this range, still working on him. Started a thread somewhere else about his building and materials used, here he is alongside an AQMF Tripod. Wonder what I could use him for....

Maybe a new tripod all together. I've done several 'new' designs using other vendor machines - put it together with stats and create a new Martian horror!

I was thinking "Command Tripod" on first look. Certainly should carry some 'drop' drones - probably hover type or maybe shocker!

I need to get some drones, how many kinds are there?
I see sniper drones and have read about the assault style. Is that it?

Currently there are standard drones, shock drones that have ranged "artillery" weapons, scorpion drones, and hover drones. Sniper drones are assigned to Tripods for local defense. There are also viral shock drones that are controled by scientist Tripods, and these drones launch rager gas.
I see a lot more possibilities for drones.
A special tripod that controls drones, carries them into battle, and can also recover, salvage and/or repair drones would be useful. A tall tripod might have a longer range for controlling drones.
There is also room for a specialist tripod that rescues members of the race who have had their machines destroyed by the nasty puny Prey creatures.

Hmmm, I thought someone did a 'rescue' type machine - will have to look it up. I'm against anything that allows further than the 12" range for drone control as I think it would seriously affect the game balance. After all, we've only got tables that are 48" x 72" (or 96") to play on for the most part (exception being those converted ping pong tables). The current range is 12", giving us 4 moves to 6 moves (or 8) to get across the table. I don't disagree with having some new types of tripods and have introduced a few (anti-aircraft & force field types) and I can see that there is a possible need for a recovery style drone. In fact, a 'Recovery Drone' that rescues crew and recovers drone parts is a good idea. I'll see if I can work it up for next time. Probably will be slightly slower (move 4"), better armored (for crew protection), and with or without a weapon. Another type of drone occurs to me now - a 'Heavy Drone', with additional armor to allow survival against up to HMG fire. Both of these models could be easy conversions of existing drones or designated by a simple paint scheme. I do wish Old Glory would get off their duffs and produce all those WW1 projected figures they promised. If my above idea about the Heavy Drone come to fruit, our human infantry are going to need some of those 37mm guns in those projections as well as a lot more stovepipes!
