What is going on in the AQotMF world? We're staring at the end of June in the face. Does ANYBODY know what's going on? Is anybody in the playtests that can tell us what's going on without maybe, not violating a NDA if that was done? Respectfully, Gunny

Respectfully, Gunny He posted on facebook they are going to Gencon but no news on a new edition. He hasn't logged onto this site since May so they might not be monitoring it anymore. Unfortunately I think companies are now going to facebook for most of their online activity.

Ironic because many folks are dropping Facebook. Seems odd to abandon a group of "true believers" with (1) discretionary income and (2) established interest in their product line. And, the longer the delay and less information the more the interest cools. I am not sure this was cited as a path to success in marketing.
The classic "4 P's" in marketing: Product - have something people want Price - have a price that is reasonable Placement - put the product where potential buyers can see it Promotion - advertise with multiple possible channels
Ditching a free or low cost forum like this one more or less neuters the last two.
And "NO!", I don't do Facebook - period.

I have to admit that I use both forms of media for Slave 2 Gaming, both have their advantages & disadvantages.
I have found that on Facebook, people tend to be ruder than most forums & tend to speak their mind if they don’t like a product. Forums however, I find that if people don’t like a “thing” (be it advert, painting project or even just idea) they just tend to continue on with their direction of the hobby.
I have been promoting this site for sometime, even making it our place of contact for Dark World War (which I hope you guys don’t mind☺️). My reason for doing this was specifically because of the people on here & the passion that they shoe in the hobby.
Personally, I’m still a big fan of AQMF & I think that they are going to take it in a good direction, I think it’s just going to take time. Hopefully they won’t lose any of you guys along the way.
Don’t lose hope. 👍

Personally, when a game dies I tend to like it MORE. Then, I can do what I want and no one says "You can't do that! It's not official!". I can start to bring whatever I want to the party!

Gunny,
We did indeed take them back at the end of the event. We will be at GenCon though as well in the main Game Room running games of 2nd Edition.

Well guys I have been gone for a while but I’m back now. I have searched and searched for some news. The last thing posted on here was July 2019! So I guess at this point it is safe to say that this game will proceed no father and I will just learn to play with what I have once I get it all painted. Luckily I have one buddy who has a whole lot of martian stuff. We have yet to play a game but I have finally just finished 10 tanks. So now at least we have something to put on the table. He has a few tripods that are ready for battle, I suppose.

Actually, there have been several posts through 2020 about the state of the game including a tentative timeline posted by the new owners. Where it is not ideal, 2nd edition is supposedly coming out next year and several have been involved with playtesting.

Where it is not ideal, 2nd edition is supposedly coming out next year and several have been involved with playtesting. I very much hope that you are right. Always promises of tomorrow, it seems. Tomorrow never comes. I do love reading all the posts on here and seeing all the pictures and playing on stealing a lot of cool ideas! My buddy and I plan on having our first battle next Saturday. All we are going to have our a few tanks In some tripods. We will basically be fumbling through the rules as we go along. As we get more stuff painted we will be having more fun! Thank you for the update and words of encouragement. I would really like to see this game be played more here in the Alabama area! Perhaps we can attract some new converts when we play our game at one of the local gaming stores.

Even without covid it is taking a lot longer than expected and I think a lot of existing players have now moved on. Whether it can attract new players will depend on how much they push and advertise it which was something the last two owners failed at so hopefully the new owners will get it right

This isn't a criticism of the old owners or the new owners, simply an observation: I think the delays with the original production, combined with the uncertainty of a new release occuring (especially since COVID-19), with the added bonus of knowing that many miniatures will not be 'contemporary' for the new edition of the game (and possibly unavailable) has done some harm to the game's fanbase.
This combination of factors is sadly undermining the future of the game. I am not even sure if you could day that this is anybody's fault.
From a PR perspective, this will require a lot of work to overcome - backing up Quendil's comment above.

they need to get their act together, that is for sure. If they ever get things up and running they need to have people out doing tournaments and exhibition games and other things to get people involved in playing the game and buying their products. I agree with both of you guys.
I don’t have anywhere near the pieces I would like to have, but I have plenty to play with and never get bored with the game. I have learned of some interesting house rules on here and seen a lot of great modeling as well as gaming tables to give me great ideas.

All the people that I know that played the game are not happy with the direction that the new game seems to be going. Some have started to sell off their collections. I agree for the most part. What made this game interesting to me was a great balance of Wells story and what could have been a reality of the time. Not too much tech, keeping it close to real etc. I have a large collection both built and in reserve, and I am fine with the game the way it exists today with a few house rules. I think if a new version 2 rule set was released to cover the existing time lines, models, fix a few rules and the continued marketing of the existing line, interest would have continued. New factions could have been introduced with supplements etc. Again holding interest and keeping a revenue stream coming in for the new owners. Drift from the flavor of the original game, missed or dead time lines and broken promises seem to have plagued this game, and it shows by the dwindling interest. Scotts books seem to have kept the interest alive, they have held the time line, tech and feel of the game that drew so much interest in the game to start with.

I am sad to see some of the old Tripod design is dead. I really loved that old Tripod!
