Wow, what a great battle! A shame the humans didn't do better, but I can see this scenario as having a lot of replay value. A fantastic table you've created. Don't pack it up yet!

Wow, what a great battle! A shame the humans didn't do better, but I can see this scenario as having a lot of replay value. A fantastic table you've created. Don't pack it up yet! Thanks! The game was completed much quicker than anticipated. The ditch was not too much a hinderance, the pit traps more so. The reinforcement rules made it hard to get any help. The victory conditions could be tougher - shorter game length, shorten game turn span to get victory points. The goal was to replicate events in the book. Yes, the Martians will win but at what cost and how quickly? The attackers did lose about 25% of their machines during the attack.

The mauling and residual damage on the tripods should help the defending humans in the following engagement.

Look forward to the next engagement. A superb work on your part. Thank you. Consider placing the special rules for the obstacles in your living rule book for others to use/abuse/ misuse but the AQMF community.

The rules I had for mortars gives them the ability to shoot and remain blips on the table until spotted by other means. Their ability to fire from behind cover with little smoke would make them very hard to spot.

Indeed. Interesting combination for the lowly mortars - I might add that to the stats under special for all my mortars. A lot depends on how you figure the Martians spot targets - I always believed that it was a combination of wave lengths (UV, IF, etc) which only a Martian could interpret as real time input. Thus, though the mortar's fire wouldn't show readily, the heat from the crew would and thus negate the 'blip' arrangement you suggest. I'm nitpicking here - except for the fellow that drops the bomb down the tube, there is very little crew exposure. So, in the long run, you're Shoot & Remain a Blip stands the test & I'll be adding it shortly to my mortar rules. :-)
