Does anyone have suggestions for an alternative gun on the mobile artillery steamer tanks? The current guns provided surprisingly lack detail and to me are too 'Napoleonic' in appearance if that makes sense.

The barrels can be lengthened by drilling the ends and inserting a piece of brass tubing. I'm considering that for mine.

Conquerors models are a bit heftier as well - in fact in game terms I think I rated them as 8" howitzers. See my "Ford Motors" sections for all the Conquerors listings as well as the vendor section.

Another way to beef up gun barrels is to dip them in glue and let the glue dry. Layers can be built up like an old-style candle.
Gun barrels have not visibly changed in a long time. Cylindrical barrels are almost universal. Hydraulic recuperators are another story. One or two, top or bottom, and other options are possible. Adding a couple of rods to the barrel is easy enough. As for looking like napoleonic weapons, well, they do.

I guess you could sub in Whitworth guns from Old Glory's ACW line. I use them for militia units, ships, and other less than 'modern' AT guns. Here's the stats I came up with and I'd think the hexagon barrel would look very different coming out of a tank.
Whitworth AT gun: 1 element = 1 unit @60 Speed 2* Defense 3 Armor 4 Special: *man-handled or towed. Range 30" +2/+3 Power Barrage 1* Special: 3 crew, HE/AT shells, *Barrage with HE only, Accurate - +1 To Hit due to special barrel (hexagonal). Each truck & gun acts independently.
