Based out of the Pinsk Marshes in and around Pinsk and the numerous tributaries of the Pripyat river, the Red Brigade is compose of Russian, Ukrainian, and some Polish military units. Although both founders of the brigade are dead,Lenin continues to indoctrinate the brigade members to the new Soviet that was the plan of Stalin and Tolsky before their deaths. The extensive marsh provide bogs to trap Tripods and rivers for ambush and boat transport. Unlike most of the world, the Martian Pod in charge of the area has pulled it tripods back rather than losing them to the bogs. The battles in 1915 are mainly carried out by a few Martian Scouts and Slavers with lots of 'infantry'.

Setup: 4' x 6' table running West to East. Entry: Martians from West end of table; Humans set up anywhere in Bogs, hidden. Weather: Clear. Terrain: Clear for 2' from West edge of table (Martian) and Bogs from the Mid-line to East edge. All Humans move through Bogs as normal terrain. All Martian units attempting to move through Bog terrain must roll a d10. A '1- 5' means its Bogged and can't move. It may still fire. It may roll again each attempt to move during the 1st movement phase only (so is stuck for at least one turn). Turns: 6 with roll for 7th. Victory: Break Opponents army.
This should be a quick battle and it's possible to play several in a single evening. Its strictly a one-on-one affair. The terrain makes for a horrible situation for the Martian player as s/he can only penetrate 12" into the bogs with his Lobos before the run out of command range. The superior knowledge of the bogs allows the human player to move around at will and results in a lot of work for the Shocker squad as it target the large number of blips. A better balanced game might be to include more Shocker squads to counter the superior firepower of all those Russian mortars and heavy machine guns. Adding two more Shocker squads give you 805 points, 14 units w/BP 7 or alternatively 403 BP @50%, both systems having 4 Order Tokens. Even with this upgrade, the Martians will be hard pressed to win. Enjoy!
