I seldom have much to say about the Games Workshop spin-off, Warlord Games. Despite lots of nice WW2 and other period stuff, its all way too expensive for me to contemplate ever getting back into. However, a new item appeared on this weeks list that grabbed my eye and had me heading to check out my game budget.
The Pickett-Hamilton Disappearing Pillbox. Yes it is in 28mm-1/56 scale. But for only $12.75, we get the pop-up pillbox for that devastating ambush or a downright cool piece for artillery to appear from the ground behind and/or in front of advancing tripods. You could declare any type of artillery gun or AT in it (no howitzers I'd say) or do the modeling on the pop-up pillbox. Heck, its big enough to have a MG or two beside the arty tube for maximum effect! The piece pretty is well priced for most to afford one or two at least. Stock code is 403211001 and is on their website now as part of their Invasion of England series of models. A few of these along a river line being held by gunboats and Marines would really give the Martians fits. As for stats, I'm working on them. With concrete, it should be pretty tough, especially when 'closed'. I really need to get one to determine limits on weapons and crews inside of one. I could imagine a tunnel network to a few of these for having Heavy Infantry to assault from as well. Anyway, check them out and give me feedback if you get one before I can (a good possibility).

I collect quite a lot of their stuff for WW2 gaming. I bought quite a lot of the Bolt Action stuff when they were a separate company before Warlord games bought them out. I like the game and do like the metal miniatures. Have quite a few of the plastic ones but find them very annoying to put together. I'm currently painting up my Japanese troops although they are mostly from TAG.
