The simplest "conversion" would be to simply clip off the stick magazines and smooth cut place. This will make the Thompsons look like some kind of carbines. That's what I was thinking.

Something like the MP18 was always the plan for the weapon, a sort of Carbine/sub-machine gun. But discussions led to having a more US looking weapon.
Great idea Box holder, I'd thought of just making the clip about half as long and using that, but at the moment they'll be painted as is for advertising purposes.
I'm still in discussions as to where we go with the US Cav. In the Dark World War there is conflict in the US, so these Cav are really an expeditionary force sent to help on the Western front.

Well, if you use my SMG (from Infantry Weapons table) or even better have a S2G SMG (per my up gunned background), you have a powerful and fast assault force. They already have the sabers on each one. I'd add some 'sticky' bombs to their arsenal and Charge!

I'm still thinking I might pick up a couple packs of these...but how much is shipping likely to be to the U.S.? Any idea of how long it might take?

I'm still thinking I might pick up a couple packs of these...but how much is shipping likely to be to the U.S.? Any idea of how long it might take? Postage & Packaging for 500grams and under is normally about AU$25 (about $20US) and a little bit cheaper if you are happy for a recycled box. The figures will be around the 100 - 120 grams range (I'll need to check the final weight when packed). We send all packages via tracked mail, so that we can make sure nothing gets lost, unfortunately it costs more, you can also have un-tracked postage (which is cheaper), but we don't cover the package if it goes missing. I know this is going to sound like a sales ploy, but it actually works out cheaper to order multiple items and get as close to the maximum weight as possible. Loyalist just did this with his last order, all we need to do is sort it out via email or on here via PM

I'd like to maximize my purchase because $20 for shipping is steep.

It pays to check out the shipping costs for large and small packages and get close to maximum weight for either. I'm planning an order of 15mm Zulu War figures from Essex Miniatures in the UK and discovered that if I make two separate orders that fit the 'small packet' size (i.e. weight under 0.5 kg/ 1.1 lbs.) I'll save 6.20 pounds on shipping. (I didn't need enough items to max out the weight for the larger package.) The Essex site calculates package weight as you add items to the cart and you can immediately obtain the associated shipping cost.

Yep, our site does that too, but when it comes to "unique orders" of parts or specific figures I find it is better to do it one to one.
The maximum weight possible for the $20 is 500grams, this includes the box and the packaging. It would usually work out at about 3 - 4 packs, depending on what you are ordering.
I just weighed a couple of the US CAV that I'm painting, a pack of 6 figures comes in at just over 100 grams, so in theory 4 packs should fit in for 500grams. That works out at about $5 per pack, How ever, if you were to order up to a 1000grams, postage drops to $33US, so it becomes cheaper per blister.
Once again, I know it sounds like a selling ploy, but it's just the facts that the postage gets cheaper with more weight.
Maybe a group order might work out well. Get some mates to all get some stuff & share the postage.

Excellent idea on the group order - with the forum members it should be easy to arrange such. And no, its not a selling ploy, its good fiscal sense
