I have a fortress assault scenario planed the game after next. If I can get some poles built before then I'll include Edison Wire to see how it works out. That will be February at the earliest. If anyone else gets the chance to test them I'd love to have feedback on them.

I did finally get O scale telephone poles. As purchased the poles are too tall to make an obstacle especially for the smaller machines. I shortened these by two inches and removed the top cross support. I am thinking about mounting 2 or 3 on separate base about 8 inches long to represent individual energized sections.

Those look great. Are you going to use terrances rules? If so let us know how it goes

We have had major delays in games and we are just this weekend getting to the City Fight scenario. The fortress assault is the next scenario after that. I have the fortress walls from Paper Terrain, but they are not built yet. I am hoping to be able to get this on the table in May (and thereby get back to the monthly schedule we have tried for). So if you have a chance to try Edison wires in a game sooner you may not want to wait for me.

Thanks I'm sure mike will proceed with haste - we'll have some AAR soon on the wires & the rules.

Many rural power lines pre-great-war were a single wire held to a tree by an insulator, or a single wire held to a simple pole by an insulator. Bamboo skewers make good poles. Seed beads make good insulators.

Do you, or anyone else are have any examples of wall terrain for the fortress scenario? Thanks, Craig

It goes together well and is quite durable for being made of paper. Here is a few sections of wall and a gun turret.

Bamboo skews - wonderful thought. Along those lines, would the wire being strung along tree lines, etc, make for a type of traps ala Ambush?? I like the thought of scrub having random electrified trip wires with a +2 Power attack from a battery buried under the turf. Kinda a drone/tripod tripwire. Egads stop me - how about electrified barbwire, power line run underground to batteries in the dragonteeth fields as well. Nasty surprise for those machines and lobos that just ignore the wire. Okay I'll stop now.

Scott does some great stuff for AQ and gaming in general - everyone should at least check his site; you'll be surprised to see the variety of structures and aid as well as the range of scales he covers.

BTW, Peter Pig does some great telephone poles under their accessories line (21-). Available from Brookhurst, these are French poles, which are made of metal with built in hand holds to climb. They look nice, a pack of 10 is cheap, set in 15 mm scale, they'll be just right for height a wire setup and being obviously metal, can have a higher armor rating than wood. Check them out a brookhursthobbies.com.
