I have been accumulating mostly second hand HO train items. Local model train store had boxes of used train cars for about 5 to 7 dollars. I repainted them as most cheap train cars have a more toy appearance and modern logos. The coal tower was second hand and repainted. Waiting on a bigger water tower and crib style grain elevator.

On one set of heavy artillery I left the guns unattached to the base so they could placed in tow for special scenarios. They fit nicely on rail cars .
During the next battle the rail yard is subjected to a Martian raid. In my alternate history Martian military Intel is very limited except what they can see or by recon by force.

Looking forward to that & man, what a nice setup! I was sadden by the death of the local train shop owner and lost a supply of used cars as you've mentioned. Where did you get the engine from? I've been over on Walters trying to find non-wired locomotives (kinda display pieces without the inners), but no luck thus far. If the old shop was about, I'd pick up a 'used' or even 'burned out' engine cheaper. It doesn't have to run. Any one with suggestions on a website selling 'used' RR pieces. Looks like Mike is going rule on the train station!! Well done, Mike, its really quite awesome and inspiring.

Bought used from the same place. I purchased the two steam locomotives the store had for sale. I think like 20 dollars. I have no idea if they are period appropriate. I was really surprised at the prices of new model locomotive.

Well it looks great and proper to the mix. All the prices on todays small engines are enormous. You were extremely gifted to have such a great source of materials!

That is an amazing looking setup. Great work, on everything! I especially like the tree lined river, looks very natural. I bet it's a blast to roll dice on your table

As an aside, I was visiting the Spartian site yesterday and noted their newest addition to their 15mm scale ground Havoc items. The UNSC has a set of 24 crates, generators, and other goodies - mostly large and man-sized gun shields. These have a possible use in AQ as special items that can be added to a squad or battery of smaller weapons; thought is they're made of compounded layers of steel and asbestos and can resist a heavy heat ray once. These would definitely be used by only the best forces; the S2G units come to mind as well as any other 'advanced' infantry and small cannon elements.

Currently my train 'set' is limited to the fine work by Paper Terrain for rolling stock and engines. To scale and inexpensive, they will do for most my needs. I also have an armored train from Peter Pig (15mm) as well as one from a German firm that escapes me by name atm. And I use the 'nuclear' artillery car from the HO line for 12" + RR guns. And several of the UMN HO armored train elements from MI Toy Soldier. Hmmm maybe we should mention a true AQ scale 12" railgun to IG. Indeed, maybe even an armored train with it at some point; both in the future mind you. Cheers!

Hmmm that's a good idea! Now I want to do up a markIV tank with a big loud speaker, a longer gun and a colourful crew! Thanks madmorgan! Out of interest, who makes the train tracks you've used? They look like the old marklin ones.

Interesting, no cheap track in HO available?? Its really nice how you manage to cover the problem with your camera skills - looks like HQ track from most shots. In any case - Marysville soon!
