The Ford Motor company is proud to field its latest line of armored and utility military trucks. As well, Ford surprised everyone with their own versions of the Mono Tank, a proven vehicle used up till now exclusively by the BEF. I'll be working up the stats for the new Conqueror figures, but, they won't need much change from standard AQ rulebook versions. I'm looking to see it there are any modifications needed as I usually give the Ford models better armor and either better gunnery or speed. I do like that the Conqueror truck has a spot to drop in a MG if you want (a spare from any of their other models with MG) and the two different versions of the Mono Tanks provide a small challenge. I think the Scout will maintain an Armor 6 whilst the other one will be Armor 7. I'm not sure if I should do anything with the speed. Its tempting to kick them up to a 9" or 10", but, I feel that might be way too much without major point increase. The use of High Rate (HR) 40 mm guns is fine as well as a low (15") range on them. Note that the HR40s are the same stats as the BEF QF2pdrs. Any way, check this thread later on once I've finished my calculations for Conquerors newest models. Cheers!
Ford Wheelie Scout: @60 points Speed 8" Defense 6 Armor 6 Special: Forward Observer; Radio; rules for mono tank apply (pg 141).
(2) HR40mm Cannon: Range 15" +2 Power Rate-of-Fire 2 Special: both must be fired at same target.
Ford Wheelie Support: @50 points Speed 8" Defense 6 Armor 7 Special: Radio; rules for mono tank apply (pg 141).
(2) HR40mm Cannon: Rng 15" +2 Pow RF 2 Spec: both must be fired at same target.
Ford Truck - same as armored flivver only Armor is 5 and has Radio.
Ford Wheelie Platoon @160 points - made up of (1) Scout & (2) Support tanks.
As per the normal 'Ford' models, all vehicles have Radios and generally have 1 point better Armor. I decided to add a Forward Observer per my thread on same to the mix, allowing the 'variant 1' to have a definite roll vs the 'variant 2'. As usual, I use clipped 'antenna' from my plastic toothpicks (see Strange Bits thread) for the proper (and cheap) antenna look. I decided that even Ford hasn't figured out how to make the Wheelie/Mono any more stable at top speeds. Its just too good a tank not to have some small restriction. However, I've always been bothered by the 'whole unit' tip over rule. I know its a simple application, but, I'd prefer the failing tank(s) fall over and the rest go on. So, for the Wheelies and Monos alike - Only the failing vehicle falls over, the remaining successful tanks continue on without penalty. The fallen tank(s) must follow the procedure to right themselves and may not fire until they've rejoined their unit (3" integrity). Comments on any of this is most welcomed.
