Hi Folks, my Idea to scratchbuild Tentacles in any length is very simpel: I use isolated Cable. leitung-kabel-ader by Markus Müller, auf Flickr Just take one of the three phases and cut the isolation all 3-4mm round. Now you can put some Claws on the Front (Spaceorcs from GW have some nice claws...) and the back u glue on your Pod. If u want it stronger, u can drill a small hole in your Pod and the Claws and glue the cable inside it. Have Fun

Ah here it is - it moved ! You can use smaller single wire elements in different gauages for your smaller tentacles. The cheapest I've found is using the twistties found around most processed breads. Just clean the paper off and start working it. The range of speaker wires also works if you want very small 'finger' tentacles at the end. And don't overlook those single wire earphones that aren't working anymore. Good source for lots of tentacles!

Guitar strings work really well, too.

Guitar strings work really well, too. Ah yeh, with the thicker (bass) strings you get that uniform jointing which is exactly what I've been looking for. Slaver to Reaper time.

I play bass and think you'll find even the relatively thin G string too difficult to keep in one position/pose. I wonder if Rebel Miniatures could be persuaded to sell the clawed tentacles from their Martian tripods separately. They look very much like reaper claws though not nearly as long (and I think the Reaper tripod's are far too long). They also make a nice cluster of 3 tentacles for their tripods.

Ah another bass player, way cool. I agree, the Rebel folks could do with a sale of some of those tentacles/claws. I'm using my 'mini' one with a rearragement of the position of the tentacles for a Gatherer. Losing the weapons, these will give me a Gatherer at $15 ec, which I can live with. Using cargo containers with open tops for my 'cages' with appropriate 'prey' & parts inside and showing. Reaper 'Bones' have these and dumpsters, which were my second choice.

i also play Bass... Just try to convert a C-String in a Tentacle. Dont like the result. For me its to flexible. The "Cable-Way" is my favorite reaper by Markus Müller, auf Flickr My Reaper

What did you use for the claws?

I'm going to Black Hat for my Gatherer model, rather than do a whole lot of conversion with the 'mini' walker from Rebel Miniatures. Their 'Handler's are perfect for the Gatherer, even with 6 legs - in the original book the 'handlers' had 4 legs for more stability in dragging their cargo containers around (full of people parts!).

Nice, they kinda look like something an Ork or Chaos fellow with power armor might have. Good work.
