Battery MkIIMA 6" guns: 3 elements @300 points Range 180" +4 Power Barrage 3 Special: Bombardment, HMGs. Template 4" +5 dice to hit.
Conqueror "Ford" MkIVA8 8" guns; 3 elements @360 points Range 240" +5 Power Barrage 3 Special: Bombardment. Template 4" +5 dice to hit.
Rules changed to allow Bombardment to hit targets on the tabletop.
Rules changed to allow Ambush by any guns up to 4" in size. 1 gun = 1 squad for ambush.
I'd done these before S2G ideas on number of templates. This line of thinking would have an impact on my Ships thread for ranges, effects, etc. If anything, it would make artillery more powerful at the higher ends.
Using the above table as the base, a battery of 5" trench turreted guns would cost 160 points for 3 guns and +25 x 3 = +75 points for their turrets coming to a grand total of 235 points for a battery of three. Do roughly a third of that rounded up to the nearest 5 points for a single turret; roughly 80 points per turret (discount for a full battery of three elements). Not bad for the power of a 5" up front. Use the above table to adjust for the smaller calibers (4",3"). If you prefer to use the AD rulebooks power bonus (vs the above to hit dice bonus), you should also use the 5" gun points from that book, adding the +25 points for the turret.
Hopefully, which ever you use, the new Conqueror ("Ford") 5" gun turrets they sell will add to any modelers wish to have trench guns - a tribute to the initial Scott Washburn thread and work on the same.
Cheers!
