I am wondering if anyone knows where to find appropriate flags to represent the United Kingdom and Egypt during this time period.

It's quite difficult but if you find some let us know

ModelFlags.com in the UK. Huge selection of sizes and many countries. Even Egypt but it's probably not the flag from pre-WWI.
Ill be ordering flags for my BEF and Canadian forces from them.

I'm sure there is some place that sells flags and standards we should be able to use. The website westbourne-model.co.uk looks promising.

Well on this side of the ponds theres Cotton Jim cottonjim.mybigcommerce.com/ with a nice range of all periods - I found the Colonial ones really good. GHQ makes very nice 1/285 scale transfers that come with placement and explantion of WW2 markings - these work well for small marks on you tanks and tents, etc. Old Glory has some nice stuff for their ship lines, especially if you have a 'viking' theme to your units (MN !). Merrimack Miniatures has some nice flags from their J&T Miniature line miniatureshpes@yahoo.com.

When needing flags I have several times found flag pictures on the internet, downloaded the image and used photo shop to resize and even recolor the image.

Alas, TFG went under some time ago - I got the full set of 6 of the ACW series which have both Union & Confederate flags - my best find were nice size flags for the 1st KY militia and the 1st KY cavalry. Photocopy the sheets in color and I have a really nice batch of Union and Confederate flags to work with. I got them from Hansen I believe (as well as their armored trains and track).

I think I will have to do this to get British India flags. I cannot find any older flags with the Star of India on it, not even close to this scale.

Gads that is a hard one - look at wiki perhaps and/or Osprey book series.

If you can find the images, there are clear adhesive labels available at most office supply places.
My cameo silhouette can cut shapes, and it has a pen holder with a white pen.
Testors model paint makes a kit to design your own water slide decals.

I didn't know about the Testors kit - thank you!

I know someone who has used the Testors kit and it did a very nice job. I haven't used it because my printer is an ink jet. Although I have been seriously thinking about getting a laser printer, and not just so I could use the water-slide decal kit.
