As I am slowly painting up all my BEF for the All Quiet on the Martian Front game I am going to organise them in the regiments from the rulebook. First up is the BEF Mobile Strike Regiment HQ is 2 Lloyds and 3 Imperial Tanks. There is also supposed to be a command stand but I am leaving this out as it makes no sense in a mobile regiment and they have the Lloyds for command. Infantry Company. HQ consisting of 1 Lloyd command tanks, 1 Fliver , 1 Cardigan and 3 MG stands. Three Platoons consisting of 3 Cardigans and 6 infantry stands. Tank Company. Imperial tank and 2 fliers for HQ, I may use Conqueror models flivers when they come out and keep these ones for my USA forces. There are two squadrons of 3 Imperial Tanks and one squadron of 3 Imperial tanks with coil guns. Support Squadrons. Heavy armoured car platoon consisting of 3 squadrons (9 in total) of Defiant armoured cars. Reserve tank squadron of 3 Imperial tanks with Coil guns. Finally the Reconnaissance Company of 1 Lloyd, 3 Cardigans, 6 infantry stands and 6 Specter armoured cars. Picture of it all together. Lots of painting still to do.

Wow impressive. One thing about the command squad - we've been talking some time about the 'bailout' of a hit command tank. If you have a command squad on foot, you could actually continue issuing orders from the guys on foot I suppose. Once more it comes back to having a proper British command squad group of models. I agree with you on the flivvers - Conqueror for the Brits and save the AD ones for USA.

Looks great! Hoping to get to the BEF once the US is done...
...and all the other stuff!

If you have a command squad on foot, you could actually continue issuing orders from the guys on foot I suppose. Remember, though, that the bailed out BEF command squad loses the ability to issue orders by radio. See Q44 in the errata PDF. They can only give orders to units in line of sight.

Somewhere back when I posted the square, triangle, circle and color system used by the Brits on their WW2 tanks. I'm reposting it here - its brief. Within a given Battalion: Diamond = HQ Triangle = 'A' Squadron Square = 'B' Squadron Circle = 'C' (Squadron = Platoon) Color for Regiment in the Brigade: Red = Senior Yellow = 2nd Blue = 3rd Of coarse there are other colors that can be used to further delineate the units (white was popular). I recommend GHQ D-15 decal pack. They come with really nice explanation of the British system - as the instructions say the British had the most complete And complex system of markings in the world.

That marking system was developed after WWI; I've used it on my Canadian and British FoW WWII models. I'm going to duplicate the early WWI British tank markings using HO scale number and letter 'gothic' decals in white. I think the decals that correspond to letters from 18" to 24" high will be suitable.

For my BEF I'm looking to combine elements of both. The triangles and diamonds etc are a great way of distinguishing different elements and I just like the aesthetic of the large bold capital letters of WW1.

LoL we all want to 'help' Q - who's more than capable - guess I for one am just excited for him with all those figures. I'll be using all kinds of markers for the various forces. I got the GHQ D-15 (and other series for various nations), some from Old Glory, some from other manufactors with larger print numbers & letters, as well as some of the odd things (Red Cross) and naval semiphore flags. Good stuff. Hmmm, first got to assemble & paint all these models. Yikes, where'd my basement go; its buried in Martians & toy soldiers!

Speaking of basements, I've been selling large collections of 40K, 1/1250 and 1/2400 scale warship models to make room for the AQotMF stuff. I sold enough in April to move all the containers of assembled, based and primed AQotMF models off the floor onto storage shelves and to clear half of the workbench. Next I have to sell a 12' x 3' modular British N gauge layout (not used in many years) to make space for a large gaming table for FoW, AQotMF, and 1/600 ACW naval.
Nothing can be done about the low ceiling so gamers will have to sit or stand between the joists. 100 years ago basements in this area were used mainly for storage and tend to have limited head room.
Re BEF, Quendil is selling me enough vehicles to complete all of the main Mobile Strike Regiment units, and most of the Support units.

I used flames of war world war 2 British squares and triangles and German numbers. I had a lot of spare decals

Me too! I've got the FoW British decals.
I've got some random numbers / letters of various sizes which should do the trick.
