The top level structure was built last night. It has flanges that insert into the lower level so can be switched with other top level designs I'm considering. Tonight I'll make another door like the one on the lower level and the 2 front hatches with HMG apertures. Next will be that wedge-shaped thing on the front face and I'm looking for model ship fittings to install on the roof.
My first sets of AD trenches arrived yesterday. I'm making command towers to go on the bunkers; they'll have the same top level design as the command tank but some will be almost as tall as the AD version.

I decided to make the railing for the rear platform from styrene rod and strip instead of brass model ship stanchions. As expected it was a very fiddly process but turned out fine.
Made the roof last night and 4 armoured hatches with apertures for HMGs like those on the AD Command tank and tower models. I still need to make 7 armoured windows, plus a hatch, radio aerial, stove pipe and siren for the roof.
Started making 3mm thick styrene bases for the towers that will go on some of the trench system bunkers, trying different designs. Due to the asymmetrical casting of the resin bunker a square roof won't work unless I add more material to the 'earth' at the front left corner. A bunker roof with rounded corners will fit fine but I doubt anyone would bother to make concrete bunkers with rounded corners. A roof with angled corners fit OK but didn't look as good as the one with rounded corners.
With two more trench sets on the way I think I'll make four bunker towers: two short ones like the command tank's for the front line, a taller Field Commander's tower for the rear line and a gun directing tower with range finder that will be in the rear line with the heavy gun emplacements.

I like the look of the segmented plate sections.

Must have a go at that myself at some time

I got the plating effect by scribing the styrene with the top edge of an upside down, slightly dull Exacto blade. The same technique was used for the 'diamond' deck plating on the tower platform. I didn't scribe the 'plates' in an irregular pattern as on the AD tower because I thought they'd be attached to a regularly spaced framework as in most structures.

Ref the pushpin again; you could always sand it down to fit your impression of a proper smoke stack.

Ref the pushpin again; you could always sand it down to fit your impression of a proper smoke stack. Not sure what this was in reference to Morgan. The stack in the Command Tank photos is a resin copy of the AD original. Half of my 4 Mk IV kits were missing the smoke stack.

Sorry, was just noting that a pushpin could be sanded down to make it more the proper appearance. It was a confusing post - I've running a fever today as you can probably tell by my more than usual rambling rantings.
