Cheers, when I eventually get casting, I'll be using this method to Mold from. I love the full AD ones and would much prefer to build full trenches however they don't really lend themselves to other systems/bases or to the trench line wiggle.

Very nice - here's drooling at that wonderful Railroad artillery. Will have to dust off my RRguns threads for repost.

BTW - Acheson Mininatures makes a very nice 15mm trench system, one sided like the above, out of resin. Full sets and well priced addons as well. In fact, as a US supplier, he's got lots of nice 15mm and 20mm terrain pieces. Give it a look. As I've mentioned back on the old forum, I do two systems of terrain. One is on 2'x2' styrofoam boards with Paperterrain pieces and foamcore/paper construction paper terrain (and some 3D paperterrain from FatDragon etc). The other is what I term 'hardware', the regular pieces that are put on a tabletop. The 'soft' terrain is for traveling to conventions etc and I sometimes mix the excellent PaperTerrain on the 'hardware' for gaming at the store.

I like the Ironclad Miniatures 20 mm trenches. They're 14mm deep vs 10mm for the company's 15mm trenches (too shallow for AQotMF figures) but at 30mm wide HMG teams won't fit - their bases are too wide. There are improvised 20mm HMG positions in craters that attach to the trench lines but they would be too far apart to maintain unit cohesion. Three HMG teams might fit in one crater.
I prefer the look of trenches without sandbags on the rims. The Martians aren't shooting bullets (other than Lobotrons) so plain trench rims are fine for me, and faster to paint.

Ah, well I see your point on the 20mm trenches, but I typically will mount my figures 'odd' with 20mm square based figures so the HMG stands I use work well. Some folks like to use the FoW bases with the small base at 32mm x 25mm working well - note that the Acheson range mentioned else where actually has FoW spaced works. Glad you found the site useful.

I could re-base the HMGs on 30mm deep bases so they'll fit in the 20mm scale trenches, and make the HMG base length sufficient that the area is the same as the circular base. I don't know if that's necessary - didn't see anything specific about base size in the rules.

Its kinda implied as an element has a certain size, making it a certain 'target area' for direct and AoE targeting and hit results. In anycase, what ever floats your boats - hmmm reminds me I got some series typing to do to get my Ships back up on the forum.

You have ships for the Game?! I sourced the model used for the scenario with the Marines on the old AQ forum. It's a Lindberg minesweeper kit that costs $30-$40US. The positions of the turrets on the AQ model in the scenario correspond to circular splinter screens on the minesweeper model. The entire superstructure was scratch-built for the model in the scenario.
I'm tempted to lay-up another HMS Terror 15" monitor hull and cook up a scenario where a new class of smaller British monitors was developed for use in North American inland waters and towed across the Atlantic. The Terror hull would have to be trimmed at the waterline, which would leave the nearly flat tops of the wide bulges visible. The 1/144 hull is 7.3" wide and 33.75" long, which would give it a beam of 62' and length of 287' in 1/87 scale. For armament it could have a domed main turret with a 4lb Coil guns ahead of the tower bridge, a 24" bombard aft of the bridge and funnel, four 5" guns (Terror and Erebus had four 6" guns as built), and a dozen HMGs from the tank kits mounted in various places, i.e. the same armament as the Thunderchild II. Same points? I'm wondering if the Peter Pig WWI fortress guns might work for the main turret and secondaries. The large gun's dome is 60mm wide, a little less than 2.5", and the smaller one is 52mm wide, about 2".
The real monitors drew only 12' of water so in a game scenario one could be almost against a riverbank. For movement all it could do is move along the long edge of the table.

I use the entire line of Old Glorys Shipyard line (at 40% off btw) with the background that they were the easiest to rebuild/upgrade to 'modern' standards. This gives you all kinds of nice vessals in full scale for use with your Marines and riverine/coastal operations. For a truely 'modern' AQ vessal I use the 1/350 Zvezda Soviet Armored Boat. I use a scaled range for fire to & from (ei 1" table = 3" game range) and figure this boat represents what the USA Navy did when the Land Ironclad was taken away from them for the Army. They took the idea of the LICs hull, dropped the side guns so as to make a smooth, trim boat. It mounts a 12" main turret fore, a 7" secondary turret, and rocket battery aft. I will try to get the ship stats and range table up soon - its large and requires alot of typing. But, well worth it. And example are two of the monitors - single or double turreted, these usually mount 7" ATgs or 6" howitzers with full range. As the vessals a full AQ scale, its 1" = 1" for all the weapons. So the single turreted with 2x 6" guns have the 150" range and Bombardment feature - lots of rules and there is a Ship Damage Table like the Tripods and larger LIC have. Also like the ICC line with their 1/600 scale ships for coastal fire - using 1"table = 6"range and an expanded artillery table, you can portray just about any ship class they have represented. Finally, I also use the 1/2400 GHQ line with a 1" table = 24" range. So the perspective scale looks good, you can show lots of stuff from all nations, and the naval strength of the humans come to play to balance some of the Mars power. All good - first I got to get all the German/French forces TO&Es out. Peace

I also really like Thoroughbred Figures 1/600 ACW line. These are all metal and cost almost the same as the various Old Glory full size ships (at discount), I don't use these as much as I should. Thoroughbredmodels.com

I have a large collection of 1/600 ACW models by Thoroughbred, and by Bay Area Yards (for which I've done ship and fort masters: Battery Buchanan at Ft. Fisher and some ACW era British ironclads). I'll be running a 'Smoke on the Water' rules ACW game for the local group in 3 weeks.
I've been rethinking the monitor idea for AQotMF - see my post in the BEF rules thread. M-Class monitors (1914-1915 design) are a better size (20" long) and easy to model in styrene. I'm experienced in making 1/144 fiberglass molds for WWI&II warships (the molds are now owned by Battlers Connection (Z23 Destroyer) and Strike Models (about a dozen ships) in the US.) I could make a mold for an M Class hull if it turns out to be suitable for AQotMF and there was interest in having one.

Excellent! I'll try and get my Ships of AQMF up soon - all those 1/600 Thoroughbred minis will work using my stats and a 1"table = 6"range table. Soon I promise.
