Holy crap! The 1/56 is going to be massive. The Tripods need to worry. you may well want to put even bigger guns on it

So, My 1/56 T-28 has arrived. It's a beautiful model. I'm going to have to remove the rivets to match the BEF look and feel which is a bit of a shame as they look nice. The rectangular storage boxes on the side will form the basis of the side sponsons to house the Vickers MG's. Here it is next to a Kitchener. This pic shows the smaller Wolseley turrets which will house the tri-barrels. It's a fair bit smaller than the Kitchener turret so I'll have to be careful when I attach the homemade barrels. I figure a lot of the gubbins contained in the Kitcheners turret is within the main body of the Wolseley given the extra room available inside. I plan to add some 1/87 scale accessories and a tank commander to bring the tank into scale. This is going to be awesome!! On another note, Trenchworx customer service has been brilliant. They replied very quickly to my initial e-mail about sizes. When it arrived there was a fault in the rear of one of the tracks (a thin area of resin and 2 small holes). I mentioned this to them in an e-mail and they immediately sent out a replacement. No questions asked.

My last post got me thinking about the main turrets' 3lb coil gun. I've pictured a 2lb coil gun next to the turret. I don't want to make the 3lb gun too much bigger as it'll be huge! My plan is to make the barrel wider but not much longer. Your thoughts would be most welcomed folks.

The T28 secondary turrets look much too small for the tribarrel weapon. Perhaps some large sponsons could be added to house them.

The sponsons from the plastic tanks are too small. Even the Mk IV sponsons wouldn't be large enough to house a tri-barrel gun and crew, so you'll probably have to scratch-build them.

thought - look for some vendors with gatling guns to scale and mount gatling mgs in the turrets - or use the 1pdr coilgun I listed with my T-35 design.

Ok, so I'm thinking about how I could use the rectangular storage boxes on the track guards as the basis for side sponsons. I'm trying to figure out how it would actually work - how would the crew get into it from inside the tank without the tracks interfering?

There's a lot of that, even in the newer Conqueror - but ours is not the to reason why... I think you need help from modelist loyalist on that mate.

The tracks would be rotating around the exterior of the sides with the drive mechanism at one end so there's room to get into the sponsons, as there was on WWI tanks. Your problem is their size. The sponsons should be at least as long and wide as the turret on the Kitchener tank, though they don't need to be as high.

Agreed. Would a shorter, slightly smaller diameter tri-barrel work in the existing turrets if they were modified a little? This would represent an experimental new updated tri-barrel.

A little progress. I have my sponsons and as luck would have it, some of the seams on the tank match up with the dimensions of the kitchener turrets making for a more natural fit.
