I was looking over the forces available from Black Hat Miniatures Martian Empire line and stumbled upon the Lizardman faction. Just like the Imperial Martians, it seems a shame not to have some of these fun figures as part of our game. Although the USA provider of these figures charge something like $1.83 per GBP (current rate this morning is $1.45+ per GBP), I figure that would include a shipping charge from England, so its all good. Looking through the Lizardmen, I realized that the HG Wells view of Venus was of a wet, swampy planet with lightning storms and lots of rain. A jungle planet - a Lizardman planet!! Looking through the range, I decided that the basis of their weapons were all based on 'energy' similiar (but not the same) as electricity. The shields would give high Armor bonus, the spears and swords were charged energy weapons, and their guns fired 'energy' pellets, all giving them high assault and power values. The reptile mounts add to number of attacks in assaults and their flyers, being use to thick atmosphere, are low altitude compared to Terran machines. With this concept, the Venusian army comes quickly into view with a good mix of fire power and melee ability, supported by powerful artillery and low alttitude flyers. I welcome comments and ideas about this please. I've still to work out any stats or points, just want to get some basic feedback from the forum. I realize there are a few folks that don't want to bother; its all good, but, if you'd like to get the Germans fighting more, heres the way.

I like the idea. My only thought is even when AD was proposing moon men and Venusians it put me more in a mind of the Space 1889 universe than War of the Worlds.
