Currently working on this scenario: Civilians attempt to escape from a seaside town under siege by getting to the coast and using small transport craft to get to a Navy Destroyer floating just off shore. Military troops, tanks, and artillery try to hold off the Martians until all civilians are out and then evacuate as many troops as possible. Toying with using aircraft on attack runs as well. The pictures show the basic layout. Coastal breakers still need to be painted and flocked. Also, ignore the overabundance of tripods and troops in the photo...I was simply trying to lay out and count through the various models I currently own.

This game will run at Command Con in St. Louis on Saturday, Nov 9. Just ordered some barges from Scott Washburn to transport civilians to the destroyer. Working now to finalize forces for each of the 6-8 players.

The destroyer looks to be a Fletcher Class, a WWII destroyer, true, but needs must. Actually I went looking for a WWI 'Four Piper' destroyer model and to my amazement couldn't find anything but the heavily modified "HMS Cambeltown" that the British used for the St Nazarre raid. Surely someone must make a plastic model of such an iconic ship.

Sharp eye Mr. Washburn! The ship is indeed a WW2 Fletcher class - The USS Melvin "Blue Devil" 1/125 scale ship put out by Lindberg. It was the closest scale I could find. I searched far and wide for a WW1 era ship to no avail. I decided the gun turrets on this somewhat resembled the boxes on our Mk III tanks and that was enough for me. I removed the radar...and may replace it with a modified Tesla Gun...undecided at the moment.

It appears that the old REVELL kit of the Campbelltown (1/600) is out of production, but there is one on eBay (as of today 4 October).
Another one is by FLYHAWK models. This one (1/700) appears to be current production and is available from a retailer in Britain. It is shown in two versions, but I have no basis to choose one or the other.
