given the back ground fluff where the Aussie's seem to have been wiped out maybe it wound be a good idea to rewrite that bit , there is strong a gaming community down there (ok I'm a brit ) and off hand the history says they got taken out before the chance to field tanks and so on ? it might help the game gain traction if the history allowed them to fight on home soil
as a note I recall there is a mountain range along the east coast which might make a defence possible

I have to agree as I will definitely paint some Aussies up whether they are in the fluff or not but would be better if they were

I agree. I think the Aussie can hold out along the coasts and be supplied from the sea and airships.

Fluff-wise I would guess that Australia would be a Steampunk/Mad Max mashup. Small bands of humans with improvised weapons fighting to survive. Ambushing the Martians then vanishing into the desert.
Game-wise, Apaches, Rangers and Vilija-istas would be appropriate, with small amounts of (light) British equipment.
A: One aspect of the game that has gone unexploited is "the resistance." Bands of humans with improvised equipment taking the fight to the Martians however they can.
B: I have a vision of a crew of Australians with a giant crossbow skewering a Tripod.
C: I also have a vision of all the creative ways Australians could use wicket glue.

Two words to strike terror into those dark little Martian hearts: Drop Bears. Craig

I am doubtless showing my cultural ignorance, but:
What is a "drop bear?"

A terrible creature that feasts upon hapless tourists. Very nasty creatures that, luckily have been pretty much wiped out by the Hoop Snake. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drop_bearCraig

Giant carnivorous koalas!! Yikes! I did not know that hoop snakes also inhabited Australia. How did they get there? They are known to be present in the forests and fields of sourthern US. You can't outrun them. People have been telling be about them since I was a little fellow, so it has to be a fact. Predates internet and Wiki by decades.

The only thing that can outrun a hoop snake is a jackalope. It is illegal to even say the name in Australia since the rabbit plague.

ROFL (tears) More serious note, I'm not so sure the Aussies would survive, but, I'm willing to accept it on faith in their determination. I've insured their continued fighting with my various S2G and other setups in TO&Es and OOBs. They kick a.. here in the states. A tribute to the ANZAC forces... BTW USA entered the war in France on this past 13 July - the Yanks are here!

There is a major British Naval Base in Singapore and Hong Kong. I am very confident that Aussies will fight just as the Native Americans are fighting. Games of 200 to 300 points. I have a vision of Aussies dancing around a bonfire while a cauldron made of a tripod head bubbles. OI!

Oh cool glad you like the idea I was worried about the idea given the somewhat big change in the history timeline but maybe if might make a reprint of the rule book if the writers feel it's a good enough idea , for some reason I have always found games more fun when at some point you have to defend home ground Thanks

Is there a City in Australia that could easily be walled off? A port that can hold out behind a concrete wall or a "Maginot Line?" Texas is technically behind Martian lines. The Martians do not play by human rules. No matter. Humans don't always play by human rules all the time either.
