Wow! Double wow! What a great set-up, and I'm honored to have inspired such a game! Well done and thanks!
Also, very interesting to see an exciting game employing such small forces on either side.

Also, very interesting to see an exciting game employing such small forces on either side. Don't forget the flagrant display of Paper Terrain products! The challenge is devising special rules that even allow the battle to take place given the circumstances described in the novel.

Wonderful endeavor!! I could here the "I've been working on the railroad" music in my head as I read through the report. Shades of Kelly's Heroes as the tripod fired up the yard. TY for a very inspiring report. Btw, the 'MG jalopy' are standard US Armored Cars right?? If not, where'd you find/make those? Thanks again

Great look - as the S2G cavalry is fully enclosed armor, the slight bulkier look is spot on. Good paint jobs btw.

The S2G heavy horse cavalry maybe better for 'late war' AQMF at around 1914 that would augment motorized cavalry . Armed with Thompson SMG could after lobo hordes and drones. I need some cavalry pennants.

Let's try this again!
Turn 1 - Martian wins initiative Martian arrive along the southwestern rail line - The Martians are exceptionally bad shots rolling two "1's" when firing at the train. The farmer's house is not so lucky. Humans roll for a single reinforcement and an infantry squad hustles out of the hotel. Turn 2 - Martian wins initiative The Martians aim is much better this time and the Santa Fe locomotive is ruined. A cattle car and livestock pen burn from a sweep attack. The third Martian makes short work of the yard tower. Humans receive a cavalry patrol (7) and militia field guns (9) as reinforcements. Turn 3 Martians win initiative Two locomotives are added to the casualties. The third tripod recognizing the threat posed by the field guns targets them at long range and destroys a gun - morale holds. Humans for reinforcements roll another 1 (rail loaded Mark II), 3 (HMG squad) , 9 (already received) The field guns and Mark IIs just scratch the tripods.

Turn 4The humans win initiative reinforcements - cavalry troops x2 , infantry squad from the Harvey House, and field HQ! fire is again ineffective Martians get closer to the beehive. Martians sweeps and breaks the field guns. Lousy Martian sweep fails to hit the coal tower. The northern tripod begins to whittle away at the train shed. Turn 5
Human wins initiative Reinforcements
2nd Mark II tanks are now crewed, infantry squad from hotel #2 and #3, Colorado Militia infantry and Colorado Militia MG squad, The human field commander goes for broke. 1) one order token for additional reserve roll, 2) one to rally the remaining field gun 3) and the remaining for double timing an arriving infantry squad to launch an assault on southern tripod The newly crewed Mark IIs take a bead on the northern tripod as both guns are in the firing arc and is the only unit capable of offering this tripod any resistance. Two hits and one penetration - the tripod topples with a 9 damage roll! The center tripod is assaulted and two hits leading to one damage point. The MGs unload and cause another damage point. The southern tripod is assaulted by a double timing infantry squad - 3 hits and two make it through - 9 damage points inflicted! This mortally wounded tripod is easy pickings for the newly arrived Colorado militia MGs and rallied field gun and falls dead just shy of the hotel.

Even before the surviving tripod was a fading glint on the western horizon, the towns people hurried to view the down enemy war machine.

Morgan, the S2G American cavalry is basically the same as the earlier S2G British version. They are not enclosed in armour; they're wearing tunics and trousers but have shoulder armour plates and armour on their knees and elbows.
